Misery mystery
words: Robert Campbell
music: Robert Campbell

(original English lyrics)

There was a time
Not long ago
When things were real
Where did they go?
Oh where am I?

There was a girl
We had a dream
We built a life
Or so it seemed
But she passed me by

Someone's got to show me
How to live
Without this misery
Mystery

There must be something
More to life
Than dressing up
And playing parts
Oh where am I?

The moment's come
The moment's passed
I'm left behind
You've move too fast
You've passed me by

Someone's got to show me
How to live
Without this misery
Mystery

Scenes from a movie...

The time has come
Another scene
Another place
Another dream
Oh where am I?

Another road to travel on
Another stage
A few more songs
To help me by

And will you be there to share
This life of mystery
Will you be there to share
This life of misery
Will you be there to share
And do I really care?

The all-female Takarazuka Revue group performed the Dean musical over several seasons in Japan. Having a female lead was such a great way to get round casting an actor as James Dean. There was an album and video of the show. The script and song lyrics were adapted by Sallina Jaye.
