Creator, together with David Sherwin, of If...., one of the key films in British cinema history, John is a novelist, biographer, and writer for film, radio, television and stage. He has written biographies of James Dean and Frank Sinatra. His television credits include Murder of a Moderate Man, Game, Set and Match, and Doomwatch. Together with Robert Campbell he wrote the musical Dean about the life of American actor James Dean, which was performed in the West End of London and in Japan for many years. His novels include Maximum Credible Accident and The Christmas Spy.
